I'm sure condoms have a valid place in special effects and this is perhaps the most unusual sourcing info I've ever givin so read on. I don't know how it goes in the States but in Scotland and Edinburgh particularly you can get free condoms from Gay bars. Try CC Blooms or Planet Out beside the Edinburgh Playhouse Theatre. There's also a plentiful supply of lubricant?(don't know what that's for!)

Here is an alternative to the insecticide sprayer deal, which i personally found to be easier, and easily renewable, ie no pumping. We and a friend of mine borrowed an air compressor (which I'm sure you can rent or borrow from many places like hardware stores or borrow from a farming aquaintence). It works the same, with the hose, and the blood (which if it is corn syrup will have to be diluted) then the hole plugged in one end, and a small hole made on the side and plugged with the car sponge. Then we attached the other end to a valve which most air compressors come with, then let it charge up. Duct tape the other end of the hose to someone, put a + cut in the clothing, and glue stick tissue paper to the back of it so it will stay together, but rip when the sponge is projected out. Worked for us, and perhaps for you.

I've tried the Sprayer method a couple of times.

Only problems I had with it are that you need to conceal the hose as best you can, and the other problem is that it works best if the sprayer/canister is held above the actor/object that is going to squirt blood from.

First time I did this shot, I had the sprayer on the ground, and despite the immense ammount of pressure, it took a while for it to squirt all the way up the hose from the ground and through the actors t-shirt.
